It happened around 3:10 a.m.  Saturday, April 24 in Yaphank.

Danyel Anderson, age 20, of Mastic, was driving a 2015 Chrysler 300 eastbound on the Long Island Expressway, west of Exit 66, when the Chrysler struck the woman standing outside a disabled 2012 Nissan Altima that was in the right lane, Suffolk County Police said.

The victim, who has not yet been identified pending notification of next of kin, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Anderson and a front passenger in the Chrysler, Ja-Rule Dillard, age 19, of Shirley, were not injured.

The vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
